In this weeks video I want to share with you my trip through Jacksonville and St. Augustine. We take an early morning stroll on Jacksonville beach and watch the wave come in. Then in St, Augustine, we tour Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fort in the united states. Then it is time to head for Miami. I hope you enjoy.

I really didn’t know what else to call this post or video. This short video is the result of my trip home to Iowa to see my family Memorial Day weekend. This was honestly the worst camping experience I have ever had. You would think reservations and prepaying would mean something, but not at KOA. In addition, the camp manager was MIA and does not return phone calls. This is the link to their website: https://koa.com/campgrounds/waterloo/. Sorry about the rant in this one, but I was pretty mad by the time Saturday night came around.

This week I want to thank my friends Katie and Helen for helping me clean the van. They actually did all the cleaning and camera work in this video. You can check the video out here: https://youtu.be/PBfrKOmW9Ak
Tonight I put up a video that making meant more to me than I could explain. We started the day out at the Bush river Quaker Cemetery in New Berry, SC. Several of my ancestors are buried there. It was very very cool to walk around the cemetery and meeting house location. To think I can trace my family back to this exact spot.
Then we headed off to Savannah, GA. I love Savannah, I was stationed close to there many years ago and hadn’t been back since I left the Army. Although the city has change, more likely my memory, it was still very beautiful. One of my favorite place!

So last night I upgraded my inverter, a change I had to make due to my refrigerator change. So let me back up a bit. I had a dorm size mini fridge I had bought off Craigslist. The fridge worked fine when I used it in the van, but the compressor never stopped running. It was just really old. So I replaced it with a newer more efficient refrigerator. I choose the BLACK+DECKER BCRK25V Compact Refrigerator Energy Star Single Door Mini Fridge with Freezer, 2.5 Cubic Ft., VCM – https://amzn.to/2syL6pH. It is running great, but I ran into one problem when I got it. My inverter was under powered to run it. I ordered a new inverter, the Cobra CPI 880 800 Watt 12 Volt DC to 120 Volt AC Power Inverter with 5 Volt USB output – https://amzn.to/2xLws3d. I got a deal on a refurbished one. I last night I had a chance to switch out the inverter, I plugged the fridge in and it ran great. So I shut it down and planned to do some testing today. My house battery bank was at 13.1 volts when I parked here at work this morning. Just took a walk out to van over lunch, the house batteries are now at 13.7 and the fridge is ice cold. Everything is running on the solar panels and a surplus of energy is being produced.
Next round of testing will be to see how long the inverter and fridge and run with now power being supplied by the solar panels.
I know I am behind on my video uploads and I am sorry. Turns out on my new camera I took to Florida, I accidentally turned on the mic. So I really should have read the manual, before the trip not after. I am having to do voice overs and that is taking longer than expected. You can expect 2 videos from me today though. I am rendering and uploading one now and have the next one ready to go. You can find it at: https://youtu.be/frzNOBdcJnE. When the other video goes up I wont be blogging that one.
Got back from the Florida trip yesterday and started working on my solar panel repair right away. I have a lot of video and photos to go though over the next couple weeks so look for those on instagram and youtube. I did get a few pics up and the first video. You can find that on my YouTube channel.
Today I had the chance to step back in time. Although the grave stones are long gone I visited the cemetery where my Great Great Great Great Grandfather William Pearson (Died 26 April 1800), my Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather Samuel Pearson (Died 08 January 1790), my Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather John Stedham (Died 1765), and my Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandmother Mary Smith (Died 30 October 1780) were buried. This visit was a bucket list item for a long time for me.
As we get close to take off day for Florida, there are so many things to get done. This week We finished up the new deck for the top of the van. That video is rendering out now and will be up soon. I will be able to mount my camp box up there. We also finished off wiring the solar panels and made screens for the windows. Defiantly a priority as we get ready to head south.
Over the weekend, we got a ton of stuff done and it was warm enough to wire in the solar panels. That video will be coming soon. But here is the video for installing the WindyNation 200 watt solar panel kit. Sorry, it took so long I had some camera issues to over come.
You can find it on my YouTube channel.
