•  THURSDAY MORNING KEYNOTE ANNOUNCED

 The 2015 SLATE Conference is pleased to announce that Ardelle Pate, EdD, Associate Professor of Instructional Design and Technology, College of Graduate and Innovative Programs, Concordia University Chicago, will be the Thursday morning keynote speaker. 

The theme of her talk; “Harnessing Reality Augmented Virtual Worlds for Learning Spaces of the Future.”

•  K-12 FOCUS ON EDUCATION

 This year, on Friday, October 23, we are proud to announce, K-12 Focus on Education, a strong collaboration platform for the K-12 community, where we will share ideas and learn more about what other institutions are doing for K-12, discuss best practices and implementation strategies, and talk about pedagogical and shared learning issues, and much more! 

•  KALTURA USER COMMUNITY MEETING

The Kaltura User Group will be meeting during the SLATE Conference on the morning of Wednesday, October 21st.  Additional information will be available soon.

The 13th Annual SLATE Conference the Midwest’s premier educational technology and teaching event, has attracted faculty and IT learning professionals from across the country and around the world in higher-ed, K-12, government, and business.

The conference will be held on October 21-23, 2015 and hosted by Northern Illinois University at their regional campus in Naperville, IL (thirty minutes from downtown Chicago).

The Call for Papers and the Early-bird Registration discount will both be ending at the end of June.

Making Courses Responsive to both Device and Student Preference

Come join this open discussion as we first focus on the technology “behind the scenes” of students knowing their device and different mechanisms and ways to support it. And then the discussion will move to how we involve students in the process and give them the ability to choose how they access content such as; graphics, video, downloading content to audio clip, etc.

The SLATE Conference is one of the premier educational technology conferences in the Midwest, known for offering a wide variety of topics ranging from best practices and pedagogy, to innovative teaching resources and cutting edge technologies. Speakers are encouraged to submit proposals whose general focus is the use of technology in teaching and learning regardless of the platform or tools being used. 12th Annual SLATE Conference: October 22-24, 2014

Plan to join us for the twelfth annual SLATE Conference, October 23-24, 2014. Over the past eleven years over 3000 people representing over 165 unique institutions from the Midwest, across the country, and around the world have attended this conference. Recognizing that deployment issues, support concerns, teaching strategies, learning styles, best practices, etc. are common among the varied CMS/LMS clients (Blackboard, Moodle, Sakai, etc.), this conference invites all faculty, system administrators, CIO’s, Web developers, instructional designers, librarians, students, and user support staff from institutions that are deploying and/or currently using any Web-based tools, applications or programs, in their teaching and learning.

2014 SLATE CONFERENCE CALL FOR PAPERS – NOW OPEN

The official call for papers opened on Monday, April 7, 2014.  Topics can include emerging technologies, faculty support/training, Moodle/Blackboard/Sakai or other LMS best practices, and other topics within your area of expertise, so don’t hesitate to submit something.  The submission deadline is June 30, 2014.
